Every British vineyard visit is special. Trust me, I’ve already visited 85. A tour through the vines, wine tasting – life’s good. If you’re looking for something extraordinary, wine tourism in this country is now getting really exciting.
There’s so much to discover and I’ve found ten topflight summer vineyard experiences to inspire you. Get organised though as they need booking in advance.
Seafood Saturday at Langham Winery, Dorset – 1 August. Stunning local seafood platters, live music and a bar stocked with Langham’s award-winning sparkling wines. If you need an excuse to visit WineGB’s Supreme Champion (2 years running!) then this is it.
Jazz & Fizz at Hambledon, Hampshire – 1 & 8 August – visit the birthplace of English wine for an afternoon of music, dancing, food and sparkling wine. It’s also worth checking out some of the fabulous gastronomic events running over the summer too.
‘Under the vines’ is an informal banquet at Carlton Towers walled garden vineyard, Yorkshire on 14 August & 11 September. Expect indulgent bbq food, relaxed vineyard vibes and a picture-perfect setting.
Open Fire banquet at JoJos Vineyard, Oxfordshire – 31 July & 11 September. Fire, feast and English wine – how fabulous!
Outdoor cinema at Wyken vineyard, Suffolk – choose from Saturday Night Fever on 30 August & Pride & Prejudice on 17 September.
Sabrage Olympics at Westwell Wine, Kent with The Society of the Silver Sword - 5 September. Opening a bottle with a sword is something every sparkling wine lover needs to try. You can compete or just spectate and either way a lot of corks will be flying, and a lot of fun will be had.
Vineyard by moonlight at Albury Vineyard, Surrey 29 July – after a guided tasting, head out and see the vineyard in a different light.
Vineyard Star Gazing Experience Everflyht, Sussex - 23 September & 28 October – combine a curated selection of wines with expert guidance from a professional astronomer on the constellations and planets above the South Downs.
Ancient roots, fresh vintage – wine tour of Herefordshire – various dates in September & October. Choose from a day trip or a 2-night vineyard stay package. This luxury tour includes White Heron Estate, Frome Valley Vineyard and 1276 Wines. There’s vine dining, e-bikes and plenty of tastings. Divine!
Malvern Hills Vineyards Wine Festival – 5 September - this one’s not actually at a vineyard but it’s a great way to experience wines from 7 vineyards in this emerging wine region in Worcestershire. Taste from Three Choirs, Two Beacons Vineyard, Chase End, Bromsberrow Estate, Deer Park, Foxbury Fields and Marlbank.
The best news is it’s now easy to find fantastic events all over the country so nobody needs to miss out.
